Amy was utterly brilliant, as far as humans go.

I am not always the easiest person to get to relax. I have ADHD, I am perimenopausal, I run two very busy business and my brain is usually working through seventeen things at any given time so relaxing isn't something I find easy to do. I also tend to feel slightly awkward trying new services like massage and usually find myself performing being comfortable before I actually am.

None of that happened with Amy. She put me at ease almost immediately, which is genuinely no easy feat and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks!

Before we started, she spent a proper amount of time understanding what was going on for me physically, how stress was showing up, what I wanted from the session and what would make the experience work for me. It did not feel like a consultation she had delivered a hundred times before. She listened closely, asked intelligent questions and clearly adjusted what she was doing based on the answers.

The massage itself was excellent. Amy is intuitive, highly skilled and clearly knows bodies very well. She checked in regularly about pressure and comfort without constantly interrupting the experience, and she did all the small things that make you feel safe and in control when you are half naked in a room with somebody you have only just met. She explained what she was doing where it was useful, made it very easy to say what I did or did not want, and never once made me feel as though I was being difficult for having preferences.

I also normally have absolutely no desire to chat while I am having a massage. With Amy, we barely stopped talking. She is kind, thoughtful, super authentic and an excellent conversationalist, but she is also very knowledgeable and extraordinarily generous with that knowledge. We talked about some of the wider things going on for me and my mum, and she gave me genuinely useful recommendations for other specialist support locally. She even recommended other massage therapists in the area where she thought somebody else might be particularly good for a specific need. I loved that. There was no ego and no attempt to make herself the answer to everything. In my experience, people who are very good at what they do are often the most comfortable saying when somebody else might be better placed to help.

I am fairly sure the whole appointment ended up running about 15 minutes beyond what I had booked and paid for, and at no stage did I feel rushed or as though she was simply moving through the motions to get to the next client.That is probably the biggest compliment I can give Amy and West Coast Wellness. The entire experience felt considered and individual. Amy was paying attention to the person in front of her, rather than going through the motions which I really appreciate.

Exceptional massage therapist. Bloody lovely human. I've booked again for in two weeks time and I am very glad I found her - highly recommend.
